August 31, 2019 Update
The Labor Day weekend is upon us, and I am sure we all have plans for it, so let's jump right into the update.
1) PLDA Releases FAQ. As most of you know from our last announcement, the PLDA Advisory Committee, our attorney, the PLDA Board, and others have been working on a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to help members and lakefront owners to easily find accurate answers to questions related to the Lake Dunlap Restoration Project. You can download the FAQ here.
2) Core Sampling at the Dam. Those of you who live by or have ventured down by the dam this week may have noticed a large work boat working on the dam's edge. This is a crew that is doing the needed preliminary tests of the river bottom as part of the engineering work that will result in the final plans for the dam. These tests are normal parts of any major engineering design. It is nice both to see this progress, as well as the proud Texas flag flying high above the boat!
3) Town Hall - Save the Date! PLDA has booked the convention center for our second Town Hall! It will be held Oct 2, 2019 at 6:30 pm.
By then, we hope to report that our WCID application is complete, but in any case we will be able to update the community on the considerable progress toward fixing the dam since the first Town Hall back in early June. This meeting is again open to the public, but we are encouraging all lakefront property owners on Dunlap to make plans to attend.
If you own property in the proposed district (eg, Lake Dunlap waterfront), you will be getting a personal invitation in your mailbox a couple of weeks ahead of the meeting.
As always, for the latest and most accurate news about Lake Dunlap, continue to look to the PLDA. Finally, PLDA remains steadfastly committed to moving forward on all this in the spirit of collaboration, community, and full transparency.
